Thanks for your thoughts on the guide and Avenza App maps. Suggest you consider adding your name to the honor role and also submitting a trail story of your adventure if so moved. We share your concerns regarding the ATV and other vehicles on the forest. Keep in mind there are good and bad in all classes of people that use the forest. There are a lot of great horse folks that follow the rules and do a lot of work on the trails and there are also lazy hikers and horse folks that drop trash everywhere. It would be nearly impossible for the FS to police this.

I hiked the trail this spring with a friend. My thanks to the Society for the wonderful trail guide and promotion of the Avenza App.. the App. was integral in staying on course in iffy areas of intersecting trails.
My concern, especially, in the very scenic eastern area is the illegal running of ATV four wheelers. Also, horse traffic, illegal, in that it was before the posted opening in the spring practically destroyed the trail in many places. The destruction was so bad it was even difficult to walk on the path. The trail heads are clearly posted in most places informing the illegality of ATVs and winter horse traffic. Why can we not enforce the law to preserve this valuable resource that belongs to the hikers and legal horse riders?
