Saturday, April 21, 2018 Hike Announcement
The River-to-River Trail Society announces its seventh guided hike of the Spring, 2018 hiking season, at the Godwin Trail and Bald Knob Wilderness, in Union County, on Saturday, April 21. The hike is free, and open to the public. Hikers should meet by 10:30 a.m. at the Hardee’s Restaurant at the intersection of Routes 127 and 13, on the east side of Murphysboro, Illinois. The hike will cover approximately five miles in about four, but the exact route and level of difficulty will depend on water levels and the weather. The hike will be of at least moderate difficulty, and is intended for people in good health who have done some hiking. There will be some creek crossings and significant uphill hiking in the second half of the hike. Feet may get wet. Boots or sturdy shoes, an extra pair of dry socks, and hiking sticks are strongly recommended. Hikers should bring their own water as well as lunch or a snack. No dogs, please.
