October 12, 2019 Hike Summary

It was a great day for our second hike.  Temps were a cool in the morning but warmed up nicely.  24 hikers met at Goreville city park and car pooled over to the Panther Den trail head and all hikers completed the 4 mile loop.  The hike went in on trail 371 to the River to River trail and Bob Mulcahy lead the group turning west on the R2R which was followed all the way through Panther Den.  No new hikers on this hike and everyone made it back to Goreville before 2:00 PM.

Saturday, October 19, 2019 Hike Announcement

The River-to-River Trail Society announces its third guided hike of the Fall, 2019 hiking season, from East Trigg Trailhead to Jackson Hollow, on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The hike is free and open to the public. This will be a more difficult hike of between six and eight miles, intended for people in good physical condition who have done some hiking. Hiking sticks and boots or sturdy shoes are strongly recommended. Hikers should bring their own water and a snack. No dogs, please.    Hikers should meet at 10:00 a.m. at the East Trigg Trailhead on Trigg Tower Road (Forest Road 424) approximately one and a half miles northwest of Trigg Tower and three miles northeast of Simpson, Illinois.
