The hike will be of at least moderate difficulty, and is intended for people in good physical condition who have done some hiking. There will be several creek crossings and some off-trail hiking, and the difficulty of the hike might be affected by high water or muddy trail conditions. Feet may get wet. Boots or sturdy shoes, an extra pair of dry socks, and a hiking stick are strongly recommended.  No dogs, please. For information or directions, call Jim at 618-964-1196.

Saturday April 7, 2018 Crab Orchard Hike Summary

What Snow??…Where?? When??? David Cooper led a Great hike today…a total of 20 met at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge office..and we moved 8 miles down the road to the Turkey Trail & Rocky Bluff Trail … Skies cleared, and, once in the woods, very little wind. We had 2-3 New hikers today. Found a Great place to take the Group picture..Water on the various ‘falls’ was flowing, albeit lightly, so, all crossings were easy. We even saw a couple of morel hunters…We did about 5.5 miles in Very good time.
